Pogonomyrmex (harvester ants)
Pogonomyrmex is found in arid habitats in North and South America.
These large and conspicuous insects are normally granivorous, playing ecologically
important roles as scavengers and seed dispersers. This genus is also known
for having a uniquely painful sting.
