Formicoxenus

These small myrmicine ants make their nests within the nests of larger Formica ants.  They are close relatives of Leptothorax and have a holarctic distribution.  Males, like the ant pictured below, are often worker-like in appearance and are commonly seen walking along the surface of their host Formica mounds.
