Diptera 1: "Nematocera"

The Nematocera are a heterogenous assemblage of midge-like flies, usually with long antennae.  Some included groups are mosquitoes, black flies, crane flies, no-see-ums, and fungus gnats.  As the more morphologically specialized Brachyceran flies evolved from within the Nematocera, these flies do not form a natural grouping.
