Formica fusca group
The fusca group is the most diverse and abundant of all the Formica.
These active, alert ants are found nearly everywhere in temperate North
America and Eurasia. F. fusca group ants are often the hosts
of socially parasitic ants, including
Polyergus
and Formica sanguinea group slave-raiders
and temporary nest founding parasites in the the Formica
rufa group.
