Australian Camponotus

Camponotus is among the most abundant and widespread ant genera worldwide.  There are over 100 Camponotus species in Australia, and the images below represent just a small sampling of this group's full diversity.  These ants are found in nearly every terrestrial habitat. They include carpenter ants as well as some honey ants and weaver ants.
