Wednesday Afternoon Mystery

Owing to a magical combination of travel and norovirus, I missed the Monday Mystery. To make it up to you, here’s an ant for you to identify:

I won’t award any points for our belated ant challenge, but you should feel free to bask smugly in the knowledge of your myrmecological acumen.

  1. Cool, a Tetramorium. Despite that it is not possible to count antennal segments or see the shape of the waist segments, I would guess it is a member of the T. caespitum group. The head shape, weaker frontal carinae, and short propodeal spines lead me to guess T. cf. caespitum (or sp. E).
