  1. That really is the WRONG question. Chief Seattle said it best:

“Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect….What is man without the beasts? If all the beasts were gone, man would die from a great loneliness of spirit. For whatever happens to the beasts, soon happens to man….Earth does not belong to us; we belong to earth.”

Ultimately, any species which comes into being soon enough passes into oblivion. If you think we are any different, you are mistaken. The conceit of man is that “man is the measure of all things”. The only question is if we will cause our own extinction or something else will do it for us.
