Here’s a big tropical ant:
Bother her and she does something rather… odd.
What does she do?
(no points for this mystery, ‘cuz it’s Thursday. And we don’t do points on Thursdays).

Does she pretend to be dead (tanathosis)? It is my guess.
If thats a Pachycondyla, I think it “coughs up” some foamy stuff.
I believe you are right: http://myrmecos.net/2012/07/02/the-case-of-the-foaming-ants/
Does she explode?
She pose for photographs, that’s what it is!
She extrudes a string of foam from the end of her gaster!
Saw that once, the gas in the bubbles seemed to be lighter then air, as the long foam string rose upwards 😮
Is the picture from Danum Valley, was there I saw it, and and I know you’ve been there too (:
that is a guess that is.. ermh, yeah.
