What’s this?
We’re back to competitive guessing this month. The first person to correctly pick the order of our mystery object will win 5 pts, the first to family will take another 5.
The cumulative points winner for the month of July will win their choice of 1) any 8×10-sized print from my photo galleries, or 2) a guest post here on Myrmecos.
Good luck!
Lepidoptera?
Back hair.
Family: Wild.
(Love you, Alex!)
Order:Neuroptera
Family:Myrmeleontidae
The back side of an ant lion?
I think that that’s correct, although not what my initial impression was.
I’m guessing Diptera. That’s a nice squichy fly-looking body. I wouldn’t even know what to guess beyond that though…
Squishy! Not squichy. Should have proofed that a bit before sending!
Squinchy !!
Looks a bit like an oestrid larva with those ridges of setae.
I think the hairs are too delicate for parasitic flies, I go with Coleoptera.
Botfly larva?
Larva of Diptera: Oestridae Dermatobia hominis
