First mosquito bite of the year

With the accelerated spring this year we’re taking the good with the bad. My first mozzie bite of the year comes from Anopheles punctipennis (identified by Mrs. Myrmecos, who knows about these things):

  1. LOL, Alex. It takes a certain ‘twist’ to view a mosquito bite as a Photo Op !!

Great photo as usual, esp considering the likely haste involved, since A. punctipennis “is a vicious biter”

  2. It’s actually a little pretty from this angle, with the golden flecking on the mink fur-like background and that pink-purple color from its…oh. Well either way a droplet of your body fluids has never looked so photogenic.
