What’s this?

Points will be awarded to the first commentator to guess the following:

  1. Order (2 pts)
  2. Genus (4 pts)
  3. Species (4 pts)

The cumulative points winner for the month of November will take home their choice of 1) any 8×10-sized print from my photo galleries, or 2) a guest post here on Myrmecos.

Good luck!

2 points for order on this one? The order for this one is so obvious even I can get it!

Wait, if it’s so obvious that it is obvious, maybe it isn’t obvious at all? It’s a trick question! This is a gourd!

  3. I think Michael should get presciency points for “gourd” (diabroticites are presumed to have co-evolutionary with Cucurbitaceae before a host shift onto graminaceous plants).

I can’t believe I was stumped – I’ve only seen about 59 million WCR beetles in my lifetime!
