How To Take Better Insect Photographs (The PowerPoint!)

I gave a seminar on insect photography to the U.C. Davis Entomology department this afternoon. Fun!

For those who missed it, I have uploaded the powerpoint slides here:

Video should be uploaded within a few days to UC TV.

  1. I’m looking forward to the video very much, your photos are really, really great. I just bought a C-8080, started using RAW, and upgraded Photoshop, so I can do better photo work. After several books on digital photography I’m getting up to speed… your tutorial will be a true pleasure. I hope you will consider doing a book on photography, maybe something like the one below, I bet it would be very well received.

Thanks Alex for putting up this wonderful powerpoint of your talk at Berkeley. As usual, your photos are extremely magical and I beg you to do a book on your macro work!

    1. You’re too kind, Rob!

A book is in the works- I’ve got a couple chapters written and have been adding some key images to my collection that illustrate concepts with exposure/focus/lighting.

The big question is whether I use a traditional publisher to market the book, or whether I self-publish.

Has the video been put up yet? I tried the link to UC television but got nothing but UC TV – whereto then?
