This is unrelated to bees, but as I was browsing your photos of Forelius mccookie just now, I couldn’t help but notice that the awesome one with the species attaching a harvester ant has the ants labelled as “Forelius maccookie”. Is this a typo, or just an alternative name? All of the other ones are labelled F. mccookie. If it’s a mistake, I thought you’d want to know!

    1. On a similar note I’m wondering why the scientific epithet is “mccooki” when the ICZN states that the preferred spelling in these situations is “mac-“.

  2. Since there are pictures of bee stings in the gallery, I have a question. Is it normal to get stung by a bee and not have the stinger stay in the skin? Because I don’t think it’s ever happened to me.

    I have just been checking out your bee pics and I think that they are great. Have bookmarked in case I need some when I show the children at my school about beekeeping
