Sunday Night Movie: I Couldn’t Care Less

Off-topic for a bug blog, I know, but this episode of David Mitchell‘s Soapbox takes on an American foible that’s bothered me for years:

And here’s another one — We’re “honing” in on a solution.
No you’re not! You’re honing (sharpening) your skills perhaps, but by using them you are homing in on (getting closer) to the solution

  2. Haha! Great stuff!
And if I can add one to go along with ‘erbs… I never understood why “in’ernet”. Where’s the T gone? Why has it gone?

And then there are “homogenous” and “heterogenous”, instead of the preferred “homogeneous” & “heterogeneous”.

  5. So what do you do with lights: turn, switch, or cut them off?

I feel for the Queen, if she and her minions are still worried about those rebellious colonies… I thought that was settled with the first tea party (According to the then King George, “the Presbyterian Revolt” – -I guess those Presbyterians were quite revolting by Bristish standards of the day).

  6. Love it! I cured my husband of saying “I could care less” about a year ago because it was driving me nuts. It makes me happy that this annoys other people.

Did everyone notice the inchworm moving along the bookcase in the background at 2:46? Apparently I’m trained to look for bugs in everything. 🙂

    1. Clearly you could care less about “couldn’t care less”. 😛

Yes, I noticed it too! At first I didn’t know what the video was about, so when I saw the inchworm I thought, “Well, it doesn’t look off-topic yet…”
