Little Things Matter
research paper here.
Have you made the cover of Nature or Science?
Ah, I remember. That was the one with the infamous anti-kin selection paper thingy…
Oh yeah! Werent they Camponotus ants trophallaxing?
Actually, Formica obscuripes: http://www.alexanderwild.com/Ants/Taxonomic-List-of-Ant-Genera/Formica/8745581_2aMY8#688654110_pcrkr
I do believe this is one of my girls! A Pogonomyrmex ant. How wonderful. I always new they had it in them to be cover girls, even without the wonderful sculpturing of some other species.
How do you know it is your ant? 😉
Very nice. It would be fun to see a number of YOUR favorite images that appear on the covers of journals/magazines and a one or two sentence description of why you particularly like/selected each image for that particular publication.
More often than not an author chooses a photo from my galleries, and I just send it along. I actually have rather little say in the process- I don’t initiate cover submissions myself unless it is for my own article.
