With Maggot Art in the news again I thought I’d share an old painting.
How was it done? I dunked a few maggots in non-toxic paint, dropped them one by one on art paper, and they did the rest as they crawled away.

Awesome! This would be an excellent way to conduct outreach for entomology programs… handling giant bugs does scare some little kids off.
Hmm, this has some potential for the next time I sub for the art teacher. A little thought ahead of time and I can easily rear what I want from the compost bin…

Maggots work especially well for this activity, as they can swim in goopy liquids like paint without drowning. Ants, not so much…
