Pulling up a tarp in the front yard yesterday I uncovered a common garter snake, Thamnophis sirtalis. I was able to snap this shot before she slipped away to a new hiding spot under the porch.

Nice job! The ones around my place have wider yellow stripes, I think. But given how widely they range, I’m not surprised that these look different.
